BATON ROUGE — The LSU sand volleyball team (10-7) travels to Tallahassee next week to take on Carson Newman and Florida State at the FSU Complex on Tuesday. The first match starts at 4 p.m. against the Eagles and the Lady Tigers cap off the night with their match against the Seminoles at 6 p.m.
LSU has won eight of their last nine matches, but the Lady Tigers face one of their biggest challenges of the season against Florida State, who is ranked fourth nationally.
“I think a big part of having a hybrid team with indoor and sand players, especially when our players are so young, is trying to develop real confidence,” said head coach Russell Brock. “The more wins we have and the more success we achieve will hopefully ground that confidence. You have to have it in order to play sand volleyball.”
“A team like Florida State poses a legitimate challenge and we have to play well. Our fours and fives have been progressing and we feel like we need to get a good showing from them to have a real chance. I feel like we’ve gotten better this week at practice, and it’ll all be decided on Tuesday in the sand.”
