BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With three months until its launch, the Southeastern Conference today announced the soccer and volleyball television schedules for the fall and the LSU volleyball team will be featured four times on the brand-new SEC Network next season, with two matches being selected for broadcast on ESPNU.
This season’s matchups will increase from a total of 14 events in 2013 to 80 events in 2014. The SEC Network alone will air a combined 65 live women’s volleyball and women’s soccer games in its debut year – more than five times the number of events available nationwide last year.
LSU will host Kentucky on ESPNU, Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the SEC opener for both teams that night, before moving into the second week of conference play as the Tigers will have their first chance to showcase the 2014 team to the SEC Network audience on Friday, Oct. 3 in the PMAC when the team hosts the Florida Gators at 5 p.m.
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, LSU hosts the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 8 p.m. in Baton Rouge on ESPNU for the second of its two games on that network.
The next three dates on the SEC Network will be on the road for LSU, traveling to Columbia to take on the reigning conference champion Missouri Tigers at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, with a date against the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. On Thursday, Nov. 6, the Tigers renew the rivalry with the Aggies of Texas A&M at 6 p.m. in College Station.
LSU has earned 190 victories sparked by five 20-win seasons to go along with seven SEC Western Division titles since 2005. The Tigers also are one of 29 programs to appear in at least seven NCAA Tournaments during the past nine seasons.
