ACSA’s Holliday Earns Distinguished Service Award

BUFFALO, N.Y. – During the recent National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) convention, the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athlete’s own Walt Holliday was awarded the Distinguished Service Award as well as elected as the Region II Director.

“Walt is a true ambassador of LSU and the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes,” CCACSA Executive Director Kenneth Miles said. “The distinguished service award reflects the values of how he operates: commitment, service, and excellence. This is the formula that anyone would be proud to acknowledge. We are fortunate to have such a great talent. Coupled with winning the Region II Director position, he clearly is the quintessential N4A’er.”

This is the first time since 1990 that a member of the LSU staff received the Distinguished Service Award. The criteria for the award include a five-year continuous membership with the N4A, high quality leadership performance in the N4A at a regional or national level and contributions above and beyond the normal service required by positions of leadership.

“I am truly humbled and honored to receive the Distinguished Service Award, the N4A and the professionals who make up the organization have meant so much to me and to be included on this list of past winners is amazing,” Holliday said.

He was also elected as the Region II Director, which region consists of 12 states. The Director of Academic Affairs was granted the award during the N4A Awards Luncheon. The convention was hosted in Buffalo, N.Y. from June 7-10.

“I will continue to serve this wonderful organization as the newly elected Region II Director,” Holliday said. “I am extremely excited to be a member of the executive board as we enter new partnerships and address the challenges and issues facing our student-athletes and membership on our college campuses.”
