BATON ROUGE — LSU women’s basketball head coach Nikki Caldwell will embark on another “Cruisin’ for Cause” motorcycle ride to benefit breast cancer research as part of her “Champions for a Cause” foundation.
The long haul motorcycle ride kicks off with a “bike night” at Walk-On’s Bistreaux on Burbank Drive in Baton Rouge from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4.
LSU fans and motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to attend the bike night at Walk-On’s. For a $15 donation, fans will receive food. A portion of the proceeds go directly to the “Champions for a Cause” foundation to benefit breast cancer research. Riders are encouraged to bring their motorcycles to the event.
Caldwell will sign autographs and be joined by new Tennessee head coach Holly Warlick. This is the sixth year that two have taken part in “Cruisin’ for a Cause.” Since 2007, over $250,000 has been raised for the non-profit organization to support the fight against breast cancer.
“We encourage everyone of all ages to come out and help us raise awareness for this cause,” said Caldwell. “When you see our Champions for a Cause crew, we all come together for something that’s bigger than us. Breast cancer is a terrible disease and we can all do our part in the community to help find a cure. I am looking forward to seeing our fans come out and be a part of this fun event.”
The event continues on Saturday at Harley Davidson of Baton Rouge on Siegen Lane. Motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to ride with Caldwell from Baton Rouge to New Orleans on Saturday. Riders must make a $25 donation to breast cancer research to ride, which also includes lunch.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. at Harley Davidson of Baton Rouge. There will be a hog meeting followed by a cookout and bike wash. The ride to New Orleans gets underway at 2:30 p.m. and will conclude at a local hospital.
Caldwell, an avid motorcycle rider, just finished her first season as head coach of the Lady Tigers, guiding LSU to a 23-11 record, a Southeastern Conference Tournament championship game appearance and the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She has compiled a 95-37 overall record in four seasons as a collegiate head coach.
