BATON ROUGE – The Golf Coaches Association of America announced the second, third and honorable mention PING All-America Teams on Thursday, and LSU senior Andrew Loupe picked up an honorable mention selection to go along with the Golfweek Honorable Mention All-America honor taken just over one week ago in the wake of an outstanding senior season.
Loupe joins senior teammate John Peterson on the PING All-America Team as Peterson earned first-team honors after winning the NCAA individual title on June 2.
The GCAA announced this year’s PING First-Team All-Americans immediately following the conclusion of stroke play at the 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships held May 31-June 2 at Oklahoma State’s Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater earlier this month.
This marks the second year in a row in which Loupe has earned Honorable Mention All-American honors by both PING and Golfweek as he was also selected as a junior following the 2009-10 campaign. Also, he was selected a First-Team All-SEC and PING All-Southeast Region performer a second time in 2011.
The Baton Rouge native wrapped up his senior season as the No. 40-ranked player in the college game for the final Golfweek Individual College Rankings released after the NCAA Championships.
In 13 tournament appearances for the Tigers during his senior season, Loupe established new career highs with seven top-10 finishes and 10 top-20 finishes on the campaign. He ranked No. 2 on the LSU squad for the season with his 72.48 scoring average in 39 rounds played in 2010-11. That performance ranks No. 13 on LSU’s list of top individual stroke averages for a single-season since 1982.
Loupe earned a top-10 finish at the SEC Men’s Golf Championships for the second year in a row with his sixth-place performance at the Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga.
