Young went 4-for-8 with a home run and five RBIs as LSU closed out the final regular season of the illustrious career of Yvette Girouard with a weekend sweep of South Carolina. She garnered RBIs in all three games of the series and matched a career-best with three hits during the middle game. The Fontana, Calif., native started the series with a bang and belted her 10th home run of the season. In the process, she tied Stephanie Hill for seventh all-time on the program’s list.

Brittany Mack, P, Jr., Round Rock, Texas
Brittany Mack continued her run of dominance with two victories and a stout 0.64 ERA as LSU extended the SEC’s longest winning streak to 12 games. The junior right-hander tossed a two-hit shutout in the final regular season home game of Yvette Girouard‘s coaching career. The two hits didn’t leave the infield as Mack sat down 12 of the last 14 batters. She has won her last eight decisions dating back to April 17.

Simone Heyward, CF, Sacramento, Calif.
Heyward was a catalyst at the top of the LSU lineup with a .700 on-base percentage as the Tigers swept South Carolina to conclude the regular season. She garnered a .400 hitting clip, drew five walks, scored four runs and swiped two stolen bases. The Sacramento, Calif., native scored a run and coaxed a walk in all three games of the series.

Notes on the Tigers
No. 21 LSU wrapped up the final regular season of Yvette Girouard‘s career with a weekend sweep of South Carolina and pushed the SEC’s longest winning streak to 12 games. In the process, the Tigers vaulted into sole possession of fourth place in the SEC standings and have won 23 of their last 26 games dating back to March 19. LSU has outscored its opponents by 111-46 margin during the run. Brittany Mack notched a pair of wins to improve to 18-5 on the season. The junior right-hander has rolled to a 13-2 mark with an ERA of under one since March 19. Rachele Fico added a win and a save to her ledger against the Gamecocks. For Fico, it was her seventh save of her career and tied her with former All-American Kristin Schmidt for second on the program’s list. The Mack-Fico tandem has combined to pick up 32 of LSU’s 38 wins for the season. Anissa Young connected for her team-leading 10th home run of the season in the series opener and added RBIs in all three games of the series to bring her season total up to 41. Morgan Russell ripped four hits and tallied three RBIs for the series, while Simone Heyward chipped in a .400 hitting clip from the top of the lineup. LSU faces No. 7 Georgia Thursday to open the SEC Tournament. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. and will be televised by ESPNU.
