BATON ROUGE — The Southern Tennis Association invited women’s tennis head coach Tony Minnis to serve as the head coach of the Southern Girls 18s National Team at the USTA National Teams Championship Tournament held at the Claremont Tennis Courts in Claremont, Calif., Aug. 1-6.
This is the second consecutive summer Minnis will coach the team as he led the squad to its first national championship in 12 years last summer.
Minnis’ team will include girls from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, which all comprise the southern section. The tournament is a competition held between each section-17 total-to determine which area has the best talent in America.
