Student-Athletes Take Part in Juvenile Diabetes Walk

BATON ROUGE ? The LSU baseball, gymnastics and track and field teams joined together Saturday to participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk at the corner of Nicholson Drive and Nicholson Extension on the LSU campus.

Members of the gymnastics team led the stretch before the walk began to prepare participants for the exercise, while members of the baseball team walked with the participants and encouraged them along the way.

Members of the track and field team handed out water to participants at the water break areas and also interacted with the participants after the race was completed by playing games and activities with the kids.

In all, 67 family groups participated in the walk to raise money toward finding a cure for diabetes.

Members of the baseball team also took part in the ALS Walk at the LSU Veterinary School on Skip Bertman Drive Saturday. The ALS Walk served to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
