Kiernan Advances in Wimbledon Doubles Draw

LONDON — Former LSU tennis standout Daniel Kiernan and his partner James Auckland defeated the doubles team of Kevin Kim and Hyung-Taik Lee in five sets Thursday to advance to the second round of the doubles draw at the 2005 Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the famous All England Club.

The duo from the United Kingdom dropped the first two sets of the match, 7-6 (3), 6-1, but rallied to win the final three sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

Kiernan was defeated in the first round of the doubles competition in 2004, but he and Auckland advance to face the tournament’s No. 2 seed of Bob and Mike Bryan of the United States in the second round.
