LONDON — Former LSU tennis standout Dan Kiernan is set to compete in the doubles competition of the 2005 Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the world famous All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
This marks the second straight year Kiernan has participated in the doubles draw at Wimbledon as he was defeated in the opening round in 2004.
Kiernan, a native of the United Kingdom, will compete with fellow countryman James Auckland in the first round of the doubles draw against Kevin Kim of the United States and Hyung-Taik Lee of South Korea. A win would set up a potential second-round match against the second-seeded doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan of the United States.
Kiernan was a four-year letterman at LSU and earned Second-Team All-SEC honors as a senior in 2002. He guided the Tigers to an SEC Championship and No. 4 final ranking in 1999, and finished his career with an 84-47 record in singles competition.
