BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A total of 66 LSU student-athletes were named to the 2005 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Thursday.
The nationally ranked LSU men’s and women’s track teams topped the list of teams with members on the Honor Roll, placing 16 women and 14 men on the list. In addition, 12 members of the nationally ranked Tiger baseball team made the list, while three members of the softball team were honored.
Seven men’s tennis players, including NCAA doubles runners-up Ken Skupski and Mark Growcott, and three women’s tennis players were on the list. Six women’s golfers, including All-American Brooke Shelton, and five men’s golfers were honored.
A total of 824 student-athletes were named to the 2005 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll. South Carolina topped the list with 89 student-athletes on the spring academic roster. Georgia was next with 86 honorees, followed closely by Florida with 83 spring student-athletes honored.
The 2005 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2004 Summer, 2004 Fall and 2005 Spring terms.
