BATON ROUGE — Katie Antony, a 5-10 guard, is transferring in to LSU’s Lady Tigers basketball program after spending the past two seasons at Vanderbilt University, it was announced by Lady Tigers’ head coach Pokey Chatman on Monday.
Due to NCAA transfer rules, Antony, a native of Anacoco, La., will sit out the 2005-06 season and return to the court as a junior for the 2006-07 season.
Katie’s skills, basketball I.Q. and experience of competing in the toughest league in the country make her a great addition to our program,” LSU head coach Pokey Chatman said. “She will bring the same hunger and drive that is already so prevalent in our returning players.”
Antony played in 62 games and started 29 as a Commodore, averaging 4.3 points, 2.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game during the two seasons. Last year she posted 5.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in 30 games.
While at Anacoco High School, Antony was named the 2003 Louisiana Miss Basketball, the 2003 Gatorade Louisiana Player of the Year and a 2003 McDonald’s All-American by averaging 30.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 4.1 steals per game as a senior. She guided the Lady Indians to five state titles in her six years as a member of the varsity squad.
