Women’s Golf at Zurich Classic of New Orleans on Wednesday

BATON ROUGE — The ninth-ranked LSU women’s golf team take a day off Wednesday from practicing for the 2005 NCAA Central Regional Golf Tournament, but they will spend plenty of time on the golf course.

The team, along with Coach Karen Bahnsen, will be involved as caddies during pro-am day of the PGA’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans at the new Tournament Players Club of Louisiana.

Bahnsen’s team will be caddying for two of the Zurich-sponsored teams in the pro-am, including a team in the morning featuring New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. The team will also caddy for a group in the afternoon that is expected to include Indianapolis Colts quarterback Payton Manning and defending champion of the New Orleans tour event and the world’s number two player, Vijay Singh.

“I know the girls are really looking forward to it,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen, whose team had the opportunity to caddy for a group that included legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, a few years ago in the pro-am when the tournament was at English Turn Country Club. “It’s going to be a lot of fun for all of us.”
