Soccer Announces Six Signees for 2005

Soccer Adds One More Late Signee for 2005

BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team added one more to the list of incoming freshmen for the 2005 season, LSU head coach Brian Lee announced on Wednesday.

The Tigers added Lucy Martin, a forward from Starrs Mill High School in Peachtree City, Ga. She led Starrs Mill in team points this past season.

“I am very excited about Lucy’s arrival in Baton Rouge for many reasons,” said LSU head soccer coach Brian Lee. “In addition to be a very skilled soccer player, proven scorer and leader, Lucy is an all-around great person from a wonderful family.”

Martin is currently the leading goal scorer in Georgia 5A girl’s soccer. She was the team captain for Starrs Mill her junior and senior years and started all four years.

“We feel that she has an opportunity to step in and start right away for us,” said Lee. “The window of opportunity for her is big because of our lack of attacking forwards.”

Martin joins Melissa Clarke, Veronica Godbolt, Leeza Iver, Roslyn Jones, Jackie Mosley and Sammie Sanderson as members of the 2005 signing class.

Lucy is the younger sister of Alice Martin, who played for Lee at Furman from 2001-2005. She currently has a 4.0 GPA and has been the Vice President of Starrs Mill the last two years.
