BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Lady Tigers basketball team is ranked No. 3 in the final USA Today/ESPN/WBCA poll behind national champion Baylor and national runner-up Michigan State.
The Lady Tigers (33-3) advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the second straight year, but fell to the eventual champion Baylor in the national semifinal in Indianapolis.
LSU received 913 points to finish third in the poll for the second straight season.
The Lady Tigers was ranked No. 2 in the final Associated Press poll that is released prior to the NCAA Tournament. Both final rankings are the highest in the program’s history. The previous best in the AP poll was a No. 3 finish in 2002-03 and the No. 3 ranking in this year’s coaches poll equals last year as the best in history.
LSU, the No. 1 seed in the Chattanooga Region, defeated Stetson, Arizona, Liberty and Duke to advance to the Final Four.
