Men’s Tennis Ranked No. 22 in ITA Poll

BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team was ranked No. 22 in the nation when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its weekly poll Tuesday.

The Tigers (13-6, 1-5 SEC) slid six spots from last week’s poll after splitting a pair of Southeastern Conference matches this weekend.

They earned their first SEC win of the season Sunday against Vanderbilt after a string of 4-3 losses that set them back early in league play.

LSU faces a pair of highly ranked teams this weekend on the road at No. 5 Ole Miss and No. 14 Mississippi State.

Other SEC teams in the rankings were No. 8 Georgia, No. 9 Florida, No. 17 Tennessee and No. 18 Kentucky. Four of LSU’s conference losses came to those top-20 teams.

Individual rankings were not released this week. The Tigers currently have three top-100 singles players and three top-50 doubles teams.

Ken Skupski (12th), Jason Hazley (83rd) and Mark Growcott (84th) are ranked in singles. Skupski and Growcott (6th), Danny Bryan and Colt Gaston (37th) and Bryan and Hazley (46th) are in doubles poll.

New team and individual rankings will be released next week.
