BATON ROUGE — The LSU baseball and softball media guides for the 2004 season have followed their teams to national prominence in the awards announced this week by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).
LSU’s 2004 baseball guide finished second in the nation behind Texas in Division A for Division I schools out of a total of 67 entries. Associate SID Bill Franques, Student Assistant Bill Martin, Publications Director Jason Feirman and David Hurd of the publications office were responsible for the guide.
The Tigers softball guide finished in third, the same position as the Tiger team finished in the Women’s College World Series. The Tigers guide finished in a group of 50 entries behind only Nebraska and Tennessee. The editor of the guide was Associate SID Melissa Reynaud along with Annie Martin and Melissa Giardina of the athletic publications office.
LSU’s baseball game program, put together by Franques with photography from staff photographer Steve Franz, finished second in the nation and was voted to have the best cover.
The Tiger men’s tennis team’s poster, put together by Franz and Hurd, won an honor as fifth in the nation in posters out of 65 entries and the poster was second in District 6.
Senior Associate SID Kent Lowe along with Martin and Giardina were honored for the top women’s golf media guide in District 6 (Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas) while Associate SID Brian Miller, Feirman and Hurd authored the LSU women’s basketball guide that was third in District 6.
The awards will be presented at the group’s annual convention, June 26-30, in Calgary.
