NASHVILLE, Tenn. — LSU’s Ken Skupski, Bryan Fisher and Jason Hazley were named to the 2004 All-Southeastern Conference team, the league announced Wednesday.
Fisher was also named Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year with Florida’s Hamid Mirzadeh. Fisher, a senior, received the award in his hometown of Nashville. He will graduate in May with a degree in marketing.
Skupski, a freshman from Liverpool, England, received first-team All-SEC Honors. He compiled a 6-5 record at No. 1 singles in SEC play. His current singles ranking of No. 30 is the second-highest of any freshman in the nation.
Fisher was selected to the All-SEC second team along with doubles partner Hazley, a junior from Bradenton, Fla. The pair is ranked 16th in the nation in doubles and notched a 6-4 SEC record.
Conference champion Ole Miss came away with two individual awards as Billy Chadwick was named SEC Coach of the Year and Catalin Gard was named Player of the Year. Georgia’s John Isner was named Freshman of the Year.
LSU’s Sebastian Rutka was also named to the SEC Good Works Team earlier this week.
The 13th-ranked Tigers (16-5, 7-4 SEC) begin play tomorrow in the SEC Tournament against Alabama at 8 a.m.
