BATON ROUGE — For the third time this season LSU track and field standout John Moffitt has been named the SEC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.
Moffitt was twice honored during the indoor season, garnering the conference accolades during the weeks of Feb. 5 and Feb. 18.
A five-time All-American from Winnsboro, La., Moffitt was the top collegiate competitor in the long jump at last weekend’s Alumni Gold Invitational. Ranked No. 1 in the event nationally, the NCAA Indoor champion turned in a season-best and NCAA-leading mark of 26-4 1/4.
Moffitt and the rest of the LSU track and field team return to action this weekend, April 22-24, when they travel to Philadelphia for the 110th-annual Penn Relays.
