Shelton Named to SEC’s Good Works Team

BATON ROUGE — LSU junior golfer Brooke Shelton was named to the Southeastern Conference’s Good Works Team for women’s golf announced by the league office this week.

Shelton was one of 12 players, one from each team, as part of the Good Works program for all 20 sports in the SEC, highlighting an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Shelton, from Plano, Texas, helps coordinate the annual Halloween BOOzar, which allows children to trick-or-treat with LSU student-athletes. She helps coordinate the annual Christmas Toy Drive, in which teams sponsor disadvantaged children and provide them with Christmas presents through the Families First program. Shelton also visits children at a local hospital and serves as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board, which serves as the liaison between the student-athletes and members of the athletic and academic support staff.

Other members of the first-year women’s golf team are: Mandy Tedder, Alabama; Melissa Murray, Arkansas; Kingsley Barrett, Auburn; Whitney Code, Florida; Natalia Nicholls, Georgia; Eva Gessner, Kentucky; Laura Evans, Ole Miss; Catalina Olarte, Mississippi State; Adrienne Gautreaux, South Carolina; Jessica Shepley, Tennessee; and, Courtney Woods, Vanderbilt.
