Track and Field Officials Re-Elects Board Members

Track and Field Ready for Annual Alumni Gold

BATON ROUGE, La. – The National Champion and top-rated LSU track and field team will be back in action Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, as LSU will hold the 2004 Alumni Gold at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

Action will begin Friday at 4 p.m. (CDT) with the men’s decathlon and the women’s heptathlon. Competition will continue Saturday with the field events at 11 a.m. and the running events at 3 p.m.

LSU will compete against two SEC schools in Alabama and Kentucky and several in state schools including Tulane, UL- Lafayette and Southeastern Louisiana.

There will be several former LSU athletes and Olympians on hand for the meet. Former Tiger, Olympian and 400-meter Indoor World Champion Alleyene Francique will be running in the 200-meter dash, while 6-time national champion and former Olympian Walter Davis will be competing in the men’s long jump and 100-meter dash. Olympian Claston Bernard will also be competing this weekend.

Both of the 4×400-meter relay teams will be looking to better their already outstanding times. Lolo Jones will highlight action for the Lady Tigers in the women’s 100-meter hurdles.

Following the LSU Alumni Gold, the LSU track and field team will be heading to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete against some of the nations best at the Penn Relays, April 22-23.
