BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A total of 27 LSU student-athletes were named to the 2003-04 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Monday.
The LSU swimming and diving teams topped the list of teams with members on the Honor Roll, placing 12 women and six men on the list. In addition, six members of the nationally ranked Tiger gymnastics team made the list, including All- SEC performers Lindsay Beddow and Annie Gagnon. Wendlyn Jones of the Final Four Lady Tiger team was also honored, as were Charlie Thompson and Paul Wolfert of the Tiger basketball team.
Twelve members of the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned Academic Honor Roll honors for the second time, while four gymnasts and one men’s basketball player were two-time recipients.
A total of 286 student-athletes were named to the 2003-04 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll. The University of Florida topped the list with 45 student-athletes on the winter academic roster. The University of Georgia was next with 37 honorees. Auburn University was close behind with 36 winter student-athletes honored.
The 2003-04 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2003 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
