BATON ROUGE — Lady Tiger sprinter Muna Lee was named the SEC’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week it was announced today by the conference office. It marks the second time this season Lee has been recognized as she also received the accolades during the week of Feb. 11.
A 17-time All-American from Kansas City, Mo., Lee was honored for her stellar performance at last week’s Texas Relays. Making her season debut in the 100-meter dash, Lee blew away the competition, winning the event title with a NCAA-leading time of 11.31.
Lee then went on to anchor both the Lady Tigers’ 4×100 and 4×200-meter relays to event gold. The 4×100’s time of 43.34 is the fastest in the country to date, while the 4×200 time of 1:30.42 marked the second fastest in school history.
Lee and the rest of the LSU track and field team return to action this Saturday when they travel to Coral Gables, Fla., for the Gatorade Track and Field Classic.
