BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team will wrap up its spring season schedule as the Tigers travel to Tampa, Fla. this weekend for a pair of matches against two NCAA tournament teams in Central Florida and Florida State.

The Tigers have already played six matches this spring, including meetings with NCAA powerhouses SMU and Oklahoma State last weekend in the Sting Soccer Club College Showcase held in Dallas, Texas. LSU tied SMU, the defending Western Athletic Conference champions, at the tournament.

LSU was one of only three Southeastern Conference schools invited to the prestigious tournament, along with Florida and Tennessee. The Tigers will face both Florida State and Central Florida this weekend in Tampa. Florida State advanced to the NCAA College Cup last season before falling to Connecticut in the national semifinals while Central Florida won the Atlantic Sun championship.

“We have the opportunity this spring to play four teams that went to the NCAA Tournament last season as well as several conference champions,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos. “We are and have been competing against the best, so this is an opportunity for our team to improve and develop.”

LSU will host the Tiger Soccer U-8 Jamboree on April 17 at the LSU Soccer Complex for all area youth soccer players ages 6-8. All members of the Baton Rouge Soccer Club who attend will receive a free t-shirt.
