NEW ORLEANS — LSU’s Lady Tigers basketball team, making its first trip to the Final Four, will be joined in the New Orleans Arena by another first-timer Minnesota and two regulars in Conneticut and Tennessee.
The Lady Tigers, the West Regional Champion as a No. 4 seed, will face No. 1 seed Tennessee, the lone top seed to advance as the winner of the Midwest Regional, on Sunday at 6 p.m. CDT. UConn, the No. 2 and East Regional Champions, will face Minnesota, the Mideast Regional Champions as the No. 7 seed at approximately 8:30 p.m. CDT.
LSU defeated Austin Peay, Maryland, Texas and Georgia to reach New Orleans, while Minnesota got past UCLA, Kansas State, Boston College and Duke. UConn, making its record fifth straight Final Four appearance and eighth overall, defeated Penn, Auburn, Santa Barbara and Penn State. Tennessee, in the Final Four for a record 15th time, defeated Colgate, DePaul, Baylor and Stanford.
The winners of the two national semifinal games will meet to decide the national champion on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. CDT.
