NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The 14th-ranked Tigers will try to bounce back from their worst loss of the season when they continue SEC play on the road Sunday against 13th-ranked Vanderbilt.

LSU (9-2, 1-2) stumbled in their first conference road match Friday, losing 6-1 at Kentucky.

“We need to respond to the loss,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “When you’re playing in the SEC, you have to separate these matches.”

Vanderbilt (9-5, 3-1) is coming off a shut out win over Arkansas Friday. They are paced by 16th-ranked Chad Harris at the top of the singles lineup. But LSU’s 58th-ranked Ken Skupski has become accustomed to top competition.

Skupski knocked off 10th-ranked Ante Matjevic two weeks ago in LSU’s 4-3 win.

Vanderbilt features three other players ranked in the top-50 and the 23rd-ranked doubles team of Zach Dailey and Greg Sossaman. LSU’s 20th-ranked Bryan Fisher and Jason Hazley will likely face Dailey and Sossaman at No. 1 doubles.

Cory Ross scored LSU’s only win of the match Friday at No. 6 singles and has now won six consecutive matches. The senior from Littleton, Co. is 3-0 in the SEC and has not lost since Feb. 16.

The match begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at Vanderbilt’s Currey Tennis Center. Live scoring will be available at LSUsports.net
