BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s golf program has announced the signing of three more golfers in addition to the three which were signed in the early fall signing period in November, head coach Greg Jones announced on Monday.
Jake Shaw, Andrew Lanahan, and Jeremiah Shields are the newest members of the 2003 recruiting class, joining Chad Bailey, Ivan Brannan, and Garret Runion, who were all signed in the early signing period in November.
Shaw is a junior college transfer from Faulkner State Community College and is a native of Cordova, Tenn. He also attended Midland College in 2001-02. Shaw tied for sixth place at the NJCAA Golf Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. this season, shooting a three-over par 291 to lead Faulkner State to the national championship.
Lanahan was a junior college All-American at Midland Junior College in Midland, Texas, the same school which produced former Tiger golfer Nathan Goulding, a member of the LSU squad from 2001-02 and an All-SEC selection in 2002. He is a native of Jacksonville, Fla.
Shields is a transfer from Arkansas State and a native of Ontario, Canada. He will be a sophomore for LSU in 2003-04. Shields had four top-10 finishes for ASU in 2002-03 and posted a 74.4 stroke average.
“This is a strong group of talent, with the guys we signed from junior college and getting the best high school player in the state in Chad Bailey, this is a very good class,” said Jones. “I can’t wait for them to get here.”
