ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada — LSU quartermiler Hazelann Regis returned to the track just one week after helping the Lady Tigers to the 2003 NCAA Outdoor title, winning gold at the Grenada National Track and Field Championships over the weekend.
Regis, a junior from St. Andrew’s, Grenada, took home first-place honors in the 400 meters, clocking a time of 52.51. She was followed in the standings by fellow Lady Tiger teammate, Neisha Bernard-Thomas, who placed second in the event with a time of 54.55.
Also competing in the national championships was LSU’s former NCAA champion, Alleyne Francique. A two-time national title winner while competing for the Tigers, Francique added two more titles to his resume, winning gold in both the 200 (20.83) and 400 meter (45.89) events.
