West, Humphries to Compete in U.S. Amateur

Humphries One Shot Off Lead at Louisiana Amateur

SHREVEPORT, La. — Former LSU men’s golfer John Humphries shot a even-par 72 on Saturday in the third round of the 2003 Louisiana State Amateur Tournament to enter the final day one shot off the lead at Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport.

Humphries, the tournament leader after 36 holes, is one shot behind current leader and Shreveport native John Carr. Carr fired a tournament-low 6-under 66 on Saturday. Humphries stands at 5-under par 211 heading into Sunday’s fourth and final round of action.

Humphries was recently honored as an honorable mention selection on the 2003 Ping Division 1 All-America Team and was also a member of the Southeast All-Region Team. He was also a First Team All-SEC selection and was the Player of the Year on the 2003 LSWA All-Louisiana Golf Team.

The final round of the tournament begins on Sunday morning.
