BATON ROUGE — LSU thrower Katie McKeever has been added to the field of competitors in the women’s shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, the NCAA track and field committee announced.
McKeever, who was originally just one place shy of receiving an at-large bid to the national championships, was let into the meet by virtue of another competitor’s withdrawal from the competition.
McKeever, a sophomore from Woodland, Calif., enters the meet ranked 25th in the nation in the shot put after turning in a season-best throw of 51-9 3/4 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. She has won two shot put titles during the outdoor season, taking home gold at both the LSU Tiger Relays and the LSU Alumni Gold.
The LSU track and field team heads to Sacramento, Calif., for the NCAA Championships, June 11-14.
