Shane Warren Named Women’s Golf Assistant

BATON ROUGE — LSU women’s golf coach Karen Bahnsen announced on Tuesday that Shane Warren is joining the women’s golf staff as assistant coach.

Warren joins the team after one year as a teaching instructor at the Chuck Winstead Golf Academy at the University Club in Baton Rouge. Prior to that, he served three seasons as the assistant coach for the University of Alabama women’s golf team.

Warren replaces former LSU golfer Lindy Hitdlebaugh who was serving in an interim position after assistant coach Marci Kornegay left to take a position at Winthrop.

“Shane brings a lot to the table for us at LSU,” said LSU’s Bahnsen. “He has experience in the Southeastern Conference and has extensive knowledge of the game and of the golf swing. He will be a very valuable asset to this program as a coach and a recruiter.”

The 32-year-old Warren graduated from Alabama in 1994 with a degree in sports and fitness management. Besides his time at Alabama and the U-Club, he also served two years as the assistant golf professional at Hidden Meadows Golf Course in Northport, Ala., a year as head golf instructor at the Golden Bear Golf Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., associate golf professional at Lago Mar Country Club and as an instructor at the Mark Wood Golf Learning Center.
