Track & Field Set to Host Final Home Meet

BATON ROUGE — This weekend’s Tiger Twilight Classic will be the last time this season the LSU men’s and women’s track teams will compete in Baton Rouge at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

The Saturday meet will also be LSU’s final competition before it begins its postseason run at the national title.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers have been on the road for the last three weeks, facing the nation’s toughest competition at both the Mt. SAC Relays and Penn Relays.

The Lady Tigers emerged from the span atop the Trackwire 25 poll as the No. 1-ranked team in the nation. The men’s squad peaked at No. 6 during the same stretch and this week is ranked 10th.

At least 10 other teams will compete in the meet, including SEC foe Alabama, and in-state rivals Tulane and UL-Lafayette.

“We have had a number of big competitions in a row,” said LSU head coach Pat Henry. “This is our last home meet, and it will be great as a finale before the SEC meet in two weeks.”

Saturday’s field events begin at 1 p.m. and running events start at 4 p.m.
