Distance Runners Kick Start Track’s Weekend on West Coast

WALNUT, Calif. — The Tiger distance runners kicked off action for the LSU track and field team, Thursday, at Hilmer Lodge Stadium, home of the 45th annual Mt. SAC Relays.

Junior Kenny Henry started things off for the Tigers finishing 20th in the University/Open division of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Henry clocked his second-best time of the season, recording a mark of 9:29.91.

In the 10,000-meter run both Ryan Gallup and Jimmy Wiggins made their season debuts in the event. Gallup finished with a time of 31:05.71, while Wiggins followed with a mark of 31:14.24.

Action for the LSU track and field team will continue tomorrow, April 18, when the Tigers and Lady Tigers take to the track beginning at 11 a.m. (CST) at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont.
