Soccer Remains Undefeating in Spring Play

TAMPA, Fla. — The LSU soccer team remained undefeated in its spring competition this weekend as the Tigers recorded a 3-0 victory over the Temple Terrace Soccer Club and a 3-1 win against Hillsborough United here in Tampa, Fla.

“We’ve been playing some really good soccer this spring,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “We beat a pair of very talented teams this weekend and it’s been a big confidence-booster for our team. These our some of the best club teams in the nation and we’ve been able to do some good things against them.”

LSU (7-0-4) used a pair of goals from sophomore Christine Haman to defeat Temple Terrace on Saturday before senior-to-be Rachel Cohen accounted for two goals against Hillsborough United in the nightcap.

“I’m really pleased with the amount of returners that we have coming back next year,” Fotopoulos said. “We have a very good mix of returning starters, we have good leadership and we have an extremely talented freshman class coming in. The future bodes well for us, but we still need to continue to improve, and work on some of the things that are lacking for us at the moment.”

The LSU soccer team will conclude its 2003 spring season on Monday as the Tigers face off against Stetson University in Tampa, Fla.
