Gymnastics Vaults to No. 12 in National Rankings

BATON ROUGE — After posting their highest road score of the season, 196.575, against seventh-ranked Utah last Friday, the LSU gymnastics team improved to 12th in the latest national rankings, released Monday. It marks the Tigers’ highest placing in the poll since the week of Feb. 11 when they were ranked 10th.

With the outstanding road performance, LSU’s regional qualifying score (RQS) improved nearly fourth tenths of a points catapulting them three spots in the national poll with a RQS of 196.310. UCLA leads the nation for the sixth straight week with an RQS of 197.980, while Nebraska (197.340), Arizona State (197.305), Georgia (197.300) and Alabama (197.215) round out the top five.

In the four individual events, LSU remains ranked among the nation’s top-25 as well. The Tigers are ranked 12th on both the bars (49.170) and beam (49.160), while sitting in 20th on the floor (49.175) and 24th on the vault (48.960).

The LSU gymnastics team returns to action this week when it closes out its regular season schedule in Shreveport with a tri-meet featuring in-state foe Centenary and Texas Woman’s. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. in the Gold Dome.
