Gymnastics Receives Tough Draw at NCAA’s

LINCOLN, Neb. — After finishing second at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Seattle, Wash., last weekend the LSU gymnastics team learned its fate for the NCAA Championships as session pairings and rotation orders were announced by the NCAA.

The Tigers drew the meet’s morning session that will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. LSU will be challenged by defending national champion Alabama, top-ranked UCLA, Arizona State, Michigan and Iowa as all six teams vie for a spot in the Super Six competition to be held April 25.

The meet’s afternoon session will feature Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Stanford and Utah. The top three teams from each session will advance to the Super Six competition Friday.

LSU drew a favorable rotation schedule as it will compete in Olympic order, beginning competition on the vault and concluding on the floor. The rotation order has proven to be successful for the Tigers as they were given the same competitive order at last week’s regional championships.
