Crescent City Tigers to Host 59th-Annual LSU Sports Banquet

LSU Finishes 10th in Sears Directors’ Cup Standings

BATON ROUGE — With a national championship finish in men’s outdoor track and field, LSU vaulted to a 10th place in the final Sears Directors’ Cup, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced on Thursday.

The 10th place finish for LSU marks the fourth time since 1997 in which the Tigers have finished 10th in the Directors’ Cup. LSU also finished 10th in 1997, 1998 and 2000.

The 10th place showing is LSU’s highest finish since the inception of the Sears Directors’ Cup competition in 1993-94.

Stanford took the title with 1,499 points, while Texas was second at 1110.5 points and Florida third with 1078 points. LSU compiled 842.5 points. Georgia was the only other SEC team in the top 10 as the Bulldogs posted 865 points for an eighth place showing.

For the year, LSU picked up 100 points courtesy of winning the national titles in both men’s outdoor track and field and women’s indoor track and field. LSU also picked up 83 points for its third place finish in men’s indoor track and field, 80 points for a fourth place showing in women’s outdoor track and field, 64 points for its ninth place finish in women’s gymnastics and 62 points for its eighth place finish in football.

The Tigers were also awarded 50 points in both baseball and softball, 48.5 in women’s golf, 48 in women’s swimming, 40 in men’s swimming, 37 in men’s golf, 30 in men’s tennis and women’s basketball and 20 in women’s tennis.
