BLUEFIELD, Va. — Meredith Duncan, who finished her LSU golfing eligibility one month ago, continued moving forward to a possible third consecutive Women’s Western Golf Association amateur championship with two more match play wins on Thursday.
With the two wins, Duncan has now won 23 of a possible 24 match play contests over the past 13 months dating back to last year’s WWGA event.
Duncan, though, did not have the easiest of days as in the round of 32 she had to go 22 holes before finally getting the 1 UP advantage over Ali Kicklighter of Deland, Fla.
In the afternoon match in the round of 16, Duncan was able to down Karen Dennison, 1UP, in a match that went all the way to the 18th hole.
The quarterfinals and semifinals are both scheduled for Friday before the 36-hole championship match on Saturday.
