LSU was named Monday as a baseball regional host site for the 13th straight year. The regional begins at 2 p.m. Friday when top-seeded LSU faces No. 4 seed Southern. Friday’s second game begins at 7 p.m., as No. 2 seed Louisiana-Lafayette will take on No. 3 seed Tulane.
The regional continues with three games Saturday (11 a.m., 3 p.m., 7:30 p.m.), and the championship round begins at 1 p.m. Sunday.

“It’s a tribute to the baseball programs in the state of Louisiana that we can have a regional of this caliber here,” LSU head coach Smoke Laval said. “Really, there could have been five Louisiana teams in the tournament; Northwestern State certainly was in strong consideration for a bid.
“We’re looking forward to playing Southern in the first game. They are a very tough fourth seed, and I actually thought they were capable of being a No. 3 seed. They score runs, they compete extremely hard, and they are a very dangerous ball club. It should be a fun ball game on Friday.”
