AUBURN, Wash. — The back nine of the University of Washington Golf Course proved again to be problems for LSU senior Meredith Duncan in the second round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Tournament.
Duncan bogeyed three holes on the back nine, her first nine of the day late Wednesday and after playing in the front side in even par, finished the round in 3-over 75, good enough for a 36-hole total of 4-over 148. On Tuesday, Duncan had a bogey and a double bogey to go with three birdies on holes 10-through 18.
The Shreveport native dropped 10 spots in the overall individual competition, falling from 19th to 29th halfway through the 72-hole tournament which runs through Friday.
The individual leaders after two rounds are Virada Nirapathpongporn of Duke (68-69) and Summer Sirmons of Georgia (69-68), both at 7-under par 137.
Arizona continues as the team leader after an 8-over round of 296 on Wednesday, to finish 36 holes at 5-over par 581. Their nine shot lead is now six over Duke at 587, with defending champion Georgia and Oklahoma one more back at 588.
