BATON ROUGE — After three days of clinics and tryouts over the weekend, the 2002-03 LSU Cheerleading squad has been selected, LSU Spirit Coordinator Pauline Zernott announced on Tuesday.
The following women and men make up the 32-member team, along with four alternates: Brittany Arbour, Jennifer Arton, Amanda Brown, Kalie Cain, Carrie Chatelain, Natalie Cohn, Nicole Curtis, Amy DuBois, Erin Hains, Lauren Keller, Sarah Newchurch, Amanda Newport, Lacey Shaffett, Michelle Soileau, Melanie Stephens, Kelly Walker, Jason Amadeo, Johnathon Bailey, Fred Billizon, Scotty Brown, Thomas Everett, Chico Garcia, Charles Hernandez, Stewart Messer, Josh Ott, Andy Perry, Shawn Perry, Adam Polozola, Brandon Sullivan, Aaron Schneck, Derrick Townsend and Matt Treuting. Alternates include: Michelle Brabham, Jennifer Hart, Nathan Boudreaux, Ernest Stokes
Of the 32 members chosen for next season’s squad, there are 10 new female cheerleaders and eight new male cheerleaders.
Last season’s cheerleading squad placed fourth in Division IA (major colleges) at the 2002 National Collegiate Cheerleading Championships held in Orlando, Fla., from Jan. 10-12, 2002. The 2002 UCA Collegiate Partner Stunt National Championship was won by Chad Price and Kelly Steiger. Price and Steiger also won the 2001 national championship in the partner stunt competition.
