BATON ROUGE — LSU free safety Ryan Clark, wide receiver Ed Dangerfield, linebacker Trev Faulk and offensive lineman Dwayne Pierce each signed free agent contracts with NFL teams on Monday.
Clark, a New Orleans native, inked a deal with the New York Giants, while Dangerfield signed with the Buffalo Bills.
Faulk, a Lafayette, La., native signed a deal with the Denver Broncos, while Pierce is also heading to the Giants.
Clark was a three-year starter in the LSU defensive backfield and he capped his career by starting 36 straight games, including both the Sugar Bowl in 2002 and the Peach Bowl in 2000. Clark recorded 315 tackles and eight interceptions during his four years with the Tigers.
Clark earned Second Team All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2000 after recording 99 tackles and a pair of interceptions.
Dangerfield, a Morgan City, La., native, battled injuries most of his LSU career. He did play in 17 games for the Tigers from 1998-2000. He caught seven passes for 102 yards and one touchdown.
Faulk, who decided to skip his senior season to enter the NFL, ranked first on the team last season with 119 tackles, including five for losses. Faulk earned First Team All-Southeastern Conference honors last year and he was also a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, which goes to the nation’s top linebacker. Faulk was also a Second Team Associated Press All-American in 2001.
For his career, Faulk played in 36 games with 33 starts and he recorded 300 tackles and four sacks.
Pierce, a New Orleans native, was considered to be LSU’s most dominating offensive lineman last year. Pierce played in 12 games with 11 starts for the Tigers in 2001.
