NEW YORK — All-America wide receiver and 2002 Biletnikoff Award winner Josh Reed was the 36th overall selection by the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League Draft held in New York City on Saturday.

Reed, who left LSU after his record-setting junior season that ended with Southeastern Conference and Sugar Bowl Championships, was the fifth wide receiver taken in this season’s draft.

There were a total of 16 wide receivers selected in the first three rounds (five from the SEC), including eight in the second round. Reed was the second of the eight second-round picks and was selected behind Donte’ Stallworth (Saints, 1st, 13th pick, Tennessee), Ashley Lelie (Broncos, 1st, 19th pick, Hawai’i), Javon Walker (Packers, 1st, 20th pick, Florida State) and Jabar Gaffney (Texans, 2nd, 33th pick, Florida).

He was the second of four players that the Bills selected in the first three rounds of the draft. The final four rounds will be held on Sunday.

The Bills also selected Mike Williams (1st rd., 4th pick, OT, Texas), Ryan Denney (2nd rd., 61st pick, DE, BYU) and Coy Wire (3rd rd., 97th pick, S, Stanford).

Former Tigers Ryan Clark (S), Rohan Davey (QB), Trev Faulk (MLB), Jarvis Green (DE), Dwayne Pierce (OG) and Robert Royal (TE) each hope to be selected in Sunday’s 4th through 7th rounds.
