BATON ROUGE — Dick MacPherson, who served as head coach of the New England Patriots and Syracuse, headlines the 2002 LSU Football Coaches Clinic, which gets underway on Thursday at 8 p.m. on the LSU campus.
LSU coach Nick Saban, who was a finalist for the 2001 Bear Bryant National Coach of the Year Award, will speak at the clinic on Friday at 7 p.m. MacPherson will speak to the coaches on “The Great Game of Football” at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
Some of Louisiana’s top high school coaches, as well as prep coaches from Texas, Alabama, and Florida, will also participate in the clinic. Among those coaches with presentations include J.T. Curtis (John Curtis High School), Brian Fine (Farmerville High School), Kenny Guillot (Parkview Baptist High School), Vic Dalrymple (Oak Grove High School), Frank Wilson (O.P. Walker High School), David Wilson (Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln High School), Sam Harrell (Ennis (Texas) High School), and Bobby Parrish (Williamson (Ala.) High School).
In addition to Saban, LSU offensive line coach George Yarno will speak on “Pass protections — The Direct Line,” LSU linebackers coach Will Doll will speak on “LSU Linebacker Drills and Fundamentals,” LSU offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher will talk about “LSU’s Crossing Route Package,” LSU defensive coordinator Will Muschamp will speak on “LSU’s Zone Pressures” and LSU Strength Coach Tommy Moffitt will speak on “Developing Strength and Power for Football.”
The remainder of LSU’s coaching staff will be available in breakout sessions on Friday.
The clinic starts at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 with Chalk Talk with the LSU coaching staff.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 19 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center with Friday’s portion of the clinic set to begin at 10:30 a.m. The clinic concludes with the LSU football scrimmage at 1 p.m. in Tiger Stadium on Saturday.
