Duncan Named SEC Women’s Golfer of the Week

BATON ROUGE — LSU senior women’s golfer Meredith Duncan continues to reap the rewards of victory in last weekend’s LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic as she was named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, the league office in Birmingham announced on Wednesday.

Duncan is the second multiple winner of the award this spring both times after tournament victories. This past weekend, she won the Classic at the University Club with rounds of 71-71-73 for a 54-hole total of 1-under par 215, the fourth lowest score shot for 54 holes in tournament history. She won by three shots over Celeste Troche and Kingsley Barrett of Auburn.

The Tigers finished a strong second in the event behind top-ranked Auburn and will now prepare for the Southeastern Conference Women’s Championships which are set to begin April 19 in Athens, Ga., at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
