BATON ROUGE — For the second time in as many weeks, LSU linebacker Bradie James has been named to another watch list for a national award. This time James is one of three players from the Southeastern Conference named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Charlotte Touchdown Club and Football Writers’ Association of America announced on Wednesday.
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is awarded annually to the nation’s top collegiate defensive player. The award is named after Hall of Famer and former University of Minnesota and Chicago Bear standout Bronko Nagurski.
Last week, James, who is a West Monroe, La., native, was named to the watch list for the Lombardi Award.
James, who will be a senior next season, finished second on the squad last year with 113 total tackles during the regular season on his way to earning First Team All-Southeastern Conference honors. James led LSU with eight tackles for losses and he ranked third on the team with three sacks. James enters his final season with the Tigers with 264 career tackles and 11 sacks.
Other SEC players on the Bronko Nagurski watch list include linebacker Mario Haggan from Mississippi State and defensive back Rashad Faison from South Carolina.
