BATON ROUGE — Following a season best road score of 196.675 in a tightly contested meet at Georgia on Friday night, the LSU gymnastics team moved up two spots to No. 9 in the nation in the latest GymInfo national rankings released on Monday.
The Tigers were able to drop a low road score at Florida earlier this season and boost their regional qualifying scores by more than half a point with the score at Georgia.
LSU has now been ranked in the top 10 in the nation six of the last seven weeks with last week’s appearance at No. 11 the only week since the middle of January that the Tigers have not been in the top 10.
Georgia, which beat LSU on Friday evening, continues to hold the top spot followed by a pair of teams the Tigers defeated earlier this season, Alabama and Utah in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots respectively.
LSU ranks in the top 10 in the nation in all four events. The Tigers hold the No. 7 spot on vault, the No. 8 spot on both bars and floor and are ranked ninth on beam.
The Tigers have their final regular season home meet on Friday evening when Rhode Island and Centenary come to the Maravich Assembly Center at 7 p.m.
