Sunday’s Baseball Game Moved to 11:30 a.m. For Travel

BATON ROUGE — The Southeastern Conference baseball game between LSU and Vanderbilt at Alex Box Stadium on Sunday, March 17, will begin at 11:30 a.m. The change was made to due to the Commodores’ flight plans for the return trip to Nashville.

The game, which was originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, will be televised on a tape-delay basis in Baton Rouge only by Cox Cable Channel 4 starting at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Games one and two of the Vanderbilt series are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday, respectively. Friday’s game is scheduled to be televised on a tape-delay basis in Baton Rouge only by WGMB-Fox 44 starting at 9 p.m.

Under SEC travel rules, a time after which no new inning can start in Sunday’s game will be set prior to the contest in consultation with both coaches, LSU game management officials and the umpiring crew.

Last year, the Tigers moved up the start time of their series finale with Vanderbilt by one hour to noon, but the game lasted only eight innings to allow the Commodores to catch their flight home.

LSU started its series finale with Kentucky last year at 11:30 a.m. after the Wildcats requested the change due to their travel itinerary.

LSU (13-5) returns to action Tuesday night with a 6:30 p.m. home game against Louisiana-Lafayette (11-6).
