PINEHURST, N.C. — LSU women’s golfer Meredith Duncan goes for her second major women’s amateur golf title this month Friday when she plays in the 36-hole final of the 99th Women’s North-South Amateur golf tournament at the Pinehurst No. 2 course.
Duncan, a senior to be at LSU from Shreveport, La., advanced through two rounds of match play Thursday to advance to the championship round against Mimi Epps of Houston, a recent graduate of Texas A&M.
Duncan had eight birdies on the day in her two match wins, downing Elizabeth Burden of Northwestern, 2 and 1, in the quarterfinal match and then young amateur, Naree Wongluekiet, 1-up.
Duncan, who played in the United States Women’s Open golf championship to start the month, won the 101st Women’s Western Amateur Golf Championships outside Chicago for the second consecutive time two weeks ago.
