KINGSVILLE, Texas — The 2000-01 LSU women’s basketball media guide placed second in the nation, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced in its June 2001 newsletter.
The 144-page media guide was edited and compiled by Scott Dean and Bill Franques, and designed by Jason Feirman, Marie Brewer and David Hurd. The guide is a complete source of up-to-date information on this season’s team, as well as archived information and records through the 26 years of women’s basketball at LSU.
Media guides are a source of information to media outlets and fellow sports information/media relations offices, as well as a valuable recruiting tool for coaches.
Over the past five years, the women’s basketball media guide has expanded from 64 pages to its present total of 144. During that time, head coach Sue Gunter has guided the Lady Tigers to the NCAA Tournament four times, including an Elite 8 appearance and two Sweet 16 berths.
The guide, along with those of all 20 varsity sports at LSU, can be viewed online at LSUsports.net.
The cover of the 2000-01 media guide features Hall of Fame coach Sue Gunter, first-round WNBA draft pick Marie Ferdinand and second-round pick April Brown.
Along with the second place finish in women’s basketball, the LSU Athletic Publications Office also earned fifth-place honors in baseball and gymnastics, seventh place in women’s golf, 11th place in volleyball and 20th place in football.
